MOTOR OIL (HELLAS) CORINTH REFINERIES has recently certified its Information Security Management System according to the ISO/IEC 27001 requirements. The certification process concluded successfully by the accredited Certification Body, Bureau Veritas Hellas and the certificate was awarded to the organisation in January 2023. By setting up and operating a management system based on IT security, cybersecurity, and privacy protection, the company strives towards operational excellence by increasing resilience to cyber-attacks and ensuring organisation-wide protection against technology-based risks and other threats.
We produce and sell products that satisfy our customers, always taking into consideration all stakeholders’ interests.
As we focus on our customers, we explore and evaluate their needs and apply all necessary technologies and actions, aiming to avoid any compromises concerning matters of quality and by constantly improving the effectiveness of our Quality Management System.
For Motor Oil, the Integrated Management System used to implement our Quality policy is oriented towards our customers and their needs and systematically includes all quality-related operational and organizational processes. The System was re-certified in 2020 by BUREAU VERITAS, in accordance with the newly revised standard ISO 9001:2015, valid until December 2026, while the first relevant certification dates to 1993.
The Chemical Laboratory of the refinery has been accredited according to the ISO / IEC 17025:2017 standard since September 2006. The accreditation was conducted by the National Accreditation Body (ESYD). The current accreditation is valid until September 2026.
Additionally, the company has been certified according to CE Marking in compliance with Regulation 305/2011/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2011 (the Construction Products Regulation or CPR). This certificate applies to the construction product: Bituminous mixtures and conforms to the requirements of the European Standard EN 12591:2009. In December 2020, the validity of the certificate was extended until January 2026.
The refinery was inspected for the first time in 2018 from a certified auditor for the specifications deriving from the EI/JIG1530 standard requirements in relation to the management, storage, and distribution of Jet Fuel. It has received the best distinction that rates Good for the relevant period.
Motor Oil has been awarded the JIG global recognition AWARD SPA 2024. It has received the best distinction that rates Good for four years. The company’s Refinery is the only one with a JIG Award for 2024.
Health and Safety at work and the prevention of occupational hazards is our primary obligation, so that everyone, employees and contractors, can perform in a risk-free environment.
This certification specifies requirements to implement, maintain and improve a management system to protect against, reduce the likelihood of the occurrence of, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruptions when they arise in the company. The certification is valid until July 2026.
Refinery health and safety objectives are met by implementing and operating the integrated Health and Safety Management System, which has been certified since 2008. The most recent recertification took place in November 2020 and the existing certificate ISO 45001:2018 is valid until November 2026.
Moreover, in November 2017 the Management System for Private Security operations of the refinery of Motor Oil was certified by Bureau Veritas Certification (B V Cert.) according to the standard ISO 18788 with validity until November 2026.
This standard specifies requirements and provides guidance for organisations conducting or contracting security operations. It provides a business and risk management framework for the effective conduct of security operations. The purpose is to improve and demonstrate consistent and predictable security operations maintaining safety and security within a framework that aims to safeguard the respect for human rights, national and international laws, and fundamental freedoms.
This means the utilisation of tactics, techniques, procedures, training, and equipment in such a way as to achieve both operational and risk management objectives.
Furthermore, Motor Oil is proud to announce the SAFEGUARD certification by Bureau Veritas.
The audit criteria concern our compliance and performance on COVID-19 pandemics management, including our current procedures and Business Continuity Plan.
Motor Oil has been adapting and implementing protective measures during this entire period according to the evolution of pandemics, state regulations, and internal risk assessment.
Our Business Continuity Plan, designed and actively supported by our management, is effectively balanced in accordance with human protection (staff, customers and partners), applicable regulations and Motor Oil rules.
The company’s primary goal to minimise the environmental impact and energy footprint of its operation, as part of our sustainable development strategy, and is based on the Environmental and Energy Management systems certified according to ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 respectively.
The Environmental Management System ensures that suitable procedures are in place to identify and evaluate the significant environmental impacts of our activities and forms the basis for drawing up strategies and implementing technically feasible and financially viable programs to protect the environment.
The company’s Environmental Management System was first certified in 2000, in accordance with the ISO 14001:1996 standard. This was followed by re-certifications, and in 2017, certification was expanded to include the production, trade and delivery of fuels, biofuels, basic lubricants, lubricants, paraffins, asphalt, sulfur, and special petroleum products with the new re-certified ISO 14001:2015 standard. The new certification is valid until December 2026.
Additionally, in 2017, Motor Oil certified its Energy Management System at the refinery to the ISO 50001:2011 standard, which binds the company to using energy efficiently with the aim of conserving natural resources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and helping to alleviate the effects of climate change. The certification is valid until November 2026.
Motor oil has developed, implemented, and maintains a Sustainability Management System of Biofuels that the company procures and subsequently sells in the local market in accordance with the 2BSvs Standard (Biomass Biofuels Sustainability voluntary scheme). The System fully complies with the requirements of the standard and the applicable national legislation as it has been established by the adoption of the European Directive 2009/28/EC (Renewable Energy Directive) as amended and currently enforced.
Motor Oil is officially certified with the ISCC EU standard, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility. The ISCC EU (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) is one of the leading international certifications, ensuring Sustainable Resource Management, reduction of CO₂ Emissions, and Supply Chain Traceability. Our ISCC EU certification confirms that our processes and products meet the stringent requirements of the European Renewable Energy Directive RED II.
The appropriate development of these management systems is realised by achieving certification for their updated versions. In addition, customers, if they so wish, and insurance organisations carry out audits.
